Thirty-Two

SELENA

We arrive at the hotel and enter the lobby, heading toward the hostess. Her eyes go wide when we walk up to her and she bows to Jiro, and I realize why she looks shocked.

I totally forgot about his shirt. He can’t button the shirt back up because there are no buttons. I stifle a giggle as the hostess tries to look away from the view of his muscles and ink. When he addresses her in Japanese, she blushes, and I give her a hard stare.

“I want the penthouse on the top floor,” he says.

“Yes, right this way,” she says, leading the way to the reservations desk. She looks at the computer and enters the keys on the keyboard.

She hands Jiro a key after he pays, and he grabs my hand, walking toward the elevator that will take us to the top floor.

He leans against the elevator, not caring that he is half-dressed. I grin at him through the mirror of the elevator, and he smiles at me while we wait for the bell to signal we have reached our floor.

Once it does, we enter the tastefully decorated space with a living room, dining room, and two bedrooms. I walk to the master bedroom, which has a huge white bed and gray curtains on the windows, and into the bathroom, where there is an enormous bathtub.

He walks up behind me and turns on the water to the right temperature and undresses. I watch, mesmerized by his beautiful body as he removes his shirt and pants.

When we train, I try to keep my thoughts on each lesson and avoid ogling him when he moves with each weapon, showing me how to disarm an intruder or an enemy. When he stands close behind me, I try to hide the attraction I feel for him. An attraction that is more than just friends.

Out of nowhere, thoughts of Relic pop in my head and I compare the men. I put my hand over my eyes and close them, ashamed of where my thoughts went.

“What’s wrong, Selena?”

I open my eyes and give him a smile. “Nothing.”

“Then come and join me.”

I undress slowly and he watches me with a lust-filled gaze as I step in the tub, sinking down in front of him, leaning my back against his chest. He kisses my neck and breathes me in.

“You smell so good, Selena. Your skin feels so soft and you're so beautiful. I’m dying to be inside you.” He kisses my shoulder and I tilt my head to meet his lips. “I want to be sure you are ready. I don’t want you to feel like it was a mistake.” He kisses my back, lifting my hair and wrapping it around his hand. “Because that would kill me and whatever happens, I will always be here for you.”

“I would never regret you and I would never think you are a mistake, but I understand why.”

He doesn’t want me to regret sleeping with him because of Relic. I don’t know why he is worried about him when the man is marrying someone else.
